A PAIR of gardeners looking for success at this summer's Royal Horticultural Society show at Tatton Park aim to help charity Marie Curie cancer charity in the process.

Harry Levy of Aughton Green Landscapes and Geoff Carter, an ex-DJ from Warrington of the Big Pond Company, compete int he competition at Tatton Park, Knutsford every year.

Last year their rock and water garden landed them a silver medal and caught the interest of property tycoon Steve Morgan, who purchased the garden for his £20m Wrexham home.

The competitors are looking to raise money to help cover the costs of this year's entry and to rebuild the garden at a nearby Marie Curie hospice.

The pair need to raise an initial £10,000 to cover the cost of recreating the garden.

Mr Levy said: "We are looking to build a log cabin garden with a stream, a really tranquil and pleasant scene. We hope that patients at the hospice will be able to benefit from this peaceful and relaxing retreat."

Marie Curie nurses terminally ill patients and also provides hospices for those suffering from illness.

They have so far received support from Manchester United and provisionally Granada Television, yet more backing is still required.

Mr Levy said: "Marie Curie do such wonderful work and we would love to be able to support them."
