POLICE are hunting a gang of thugs who left a man with a fractured skull in a vicious late-night attack.
The victim - a 23-year-old man - was kicked in the head after being knocked to the ground during the unprovoked assault by up to ten white males.
Only the intervention of a passing couple stopped the attack and police are appealing for them or anyone else who witnessed the incident to come forward.
The attack took place at around 3.15am on Saturday, March 26 (Easter Saturday) as the victim and his two friends looked for a taxi in Albert Road.
Anyone with information should contact Det Con Jim Earlam or Darren Riley on 01244-614909 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
