THE launch of a social club set up to bring new faces into Middlewich has been heralded as a huge success by its chairman.
The Cameo Set, which stands for Come And Meet Each Other, Social Entertainment and Touring, was launched last Wednesday afternoon at Middlewich Town Football Club and Bill Blunn, the group's founder, has thanked those who made it possible.
Bill said: "It was fantastic. Everyone turned up, we had a full coach of our friends from Ellesmere Port and it was a full house."
Congleton Borough Council Mayor Clr Neville Price with his wife Dorothy and former Manchester City FC player Glyn Pardoe officially launched the club and members were entertained by musician Jeff Cliffson.
Bill said: "The mayor was overwhelmed and said he couldn't believe the turnout. I told him this is just the first of many outings we'll be organising."
Bill has spent months working on plans to create a social group for Middlewich's older generation and promote tourism, with a view to organising day trips to and from the town, and is delighted the hard work has finally paid off.
He thanked everyone who helped organise the launch party including Middlewich Town Football Club and all the guests who attended.
