THE Mayor of Vale Royal Clr Anne Hooker held her civic service at St Mary's Church, Weaverham, on Sunday.
During the procession to the church, the Mayor paused at the war memorial to place a single rose to commemorate St George's Day.
The Right Rev Dr Peter Forster, The Bishop of Chester, conducted the service and the Wyvern Choir performed Ave Verum Corpis (Mozart).
After the service, guests attended Weaverham High School for a light lunch where the Weaverham Forest Street Primary School steel band and Comberbach Primary School Choir entertained the guests.
Clr Hooker said: "It was a beautiful day and the servicea was superb.
"Thank you to all the guests who attended and others who gave their time to make the day so wonderful"
During the service, a collection was held in aid of the Neuromuscular Centre in Winsford.
