PARISH councillors have reacted angrily after planners agreed to a 15-metre telecommunications mast being put up on land at the corner of Hall Lane and Wincham Lane in Wincham.
It was a close vote but Mono Consultants Limited will now put up the mast surmounted by six antennas enclosed with GRP shroud.
The equipment is to be installed on a grass verge alongside existing street furniture, adjacent to the junction of the A556 and Wincham Lane and opposite the Black Greyhound Pub.
The proposed mast is approximately 45 metres from the nearest residential property.
Wincham Parish Council had objected that the mast would be visually detrimental to the area and would be a highways safety hazard as it would reduce visibility at a busy road junction.
Parish clerk John Gleave said: "Obviously we are upset.
"They cut trees down to enable improve the visibility. Now they come along and put a mast there."
