RESIDENTS are being asked to comment on an investigation into the county's proposed new five-year transport strategy.
A 124-page strategic environmental assessment, written by consultants, is now running alongside the public consultation on the latest Local Transport Plan.
The document looks in depth at likely significant effects on the environment including population, human health, water, air, climate, plants and animals as well as the man- made and natural landscape.
The investigation also considers measures to reduce these impacts and its recommendations are set out over five pages.
They include sharing best practice between the county council and the six district councils, a need for high quality design which reflects local character, promotion of travel choice, the reduction of traffic emissions and balancing wildlife and transport needs.
Residents are asked for their views on the whole report but especially on a set of specific questions on whether the problems identified are the right ones and whether the mitigation measures suggested are appropriate.
Tim Harrison, county council environment policy manager, said: "It is extremely important the people of Cheshire have their say on the findings so that the new Local Transport Plan reflects the aspirations and views of everyone in the county."
