THE new head teacher at Newchurch Primary School says she has been made to feel very welcome in her new surroundings.
Sarah Walker, aged 38, says she has been impressed by the school since she started and is very excited at the challenge of her first headship.
The mother-of-four said: "We are striving to improve academic standards, working to improve the environment of our school and working hard to develop rounded students."
Mrs Walker, who was a deputy head at her previous school in Bolton, says she has taught in every class since starting and now knows almost every child's name.
She said: "The children have been really keen and polite. There are so many different challenges - from finance to strategies and nits!"
