WARRINGTON'S Liberal Democrats and Conservatives have launched an attack on Labour - accusing them of hoarding all the top council jobs.

Former Lib Dem leader Clr Barbara Mawer told Monday's full council meeting that the positions of chairman and deputy chairman of new council committees should be shared among all three parties.

At the moment, all positions are held by Labour councillors.

Clr Mawer said: "I was disappointed to see that all the positions went to Labour members.

"I hoped we would have had a little more inclusion and I hope when it comes to May we will look at it again."

Clr Sheila Woodyatt, Conservative, said it was vital for democracy that opposition members had a bigger say.

She added: "There is plenty of opportunity for this to be taken more seriously. There are some of us who are quite capable of doing it too."

Council leader John Joyce said it would be down to the members of his group to decide and that they would look again at the issue in May.
