EMERGENCY services from across St Helens teamed up to free a driver trapped under a lorry near the M62 on Monday.
Firemen and paramedics attended the incident at 7.10am after a lorry collided with the Renault Clio, leaving the victim and his car lodged beneath.
The incident happened on the St Helens Link Way approaching junction seven of the motorway.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "Our officers, fire and paramedics attended the scene but the driver, who required medical attention, was quickly freed and the road soon cleared."
The victim was taken to Whiston Hospital for treatment to neck and chest injuries and was later discharged.
