MERSEYSIDE Police is signing its youngest recruits in a bid to blitz anti-social behaviour.
Year three pupils at primary schools across the borough will join the Police Gang as part of a unique six-week programme, teaching children through drama, games and discussion, what it takes to be a good citizen.
One police officer has even written a song to help explain the consequences of anti-social behaviour to the youngsters.
Neighbourhood Inspector Peter Costello said: "This scheme gives us a great opportunity to engage with school children and for them to see the human face of the police.
"By interacting with young people in a fun and safe environment, we hope to raise awareness among young people of a variety of social issues and the responsibilities they have in their communities and to one another."
The initiative covers a variety of topics, including stranger danger, bullying andvandalism, and includes poster designing to share the message they have learned. Each child will be presented with a certificate at a nearby police station.
