A NEWTON sportsman is hoping to chip then put himself into the record books, in a round the clock bid for needy youngsters.
Rick Wright, of Gladstone Way, is practising and playing hard in a bid to smash a golfing world record currently held by Olympic champion, Sir Steve Redgrave.
The 27-year-old is heading a team of colleagues from pharmaceutical company, AstraZenca, based in Knutsford, for the most number of golfers completing a full round of golf in 24 hours to crack the record.
The forthcoming challenge on, June 16, will be staged at Tytherington Golf and Country Club in Altrincham, with the ultimate aim of raising £50,000 for the NSPCC and Manchester Kids.
Rick, said: "We have received fantastic support, with 54,000 hits on our event website already.
"We are trained hard and determining to go all the way into the record books."
