STRETTON'S season got off to a great start on Saturday as they registered an impressive win at Castrol CC in the Mellor Braggins League.
Stretton, who lost several players to retirement after last year's promotion, won the toss and elected to bowl.
Castrol were in trouble from the beginning, with new captain Ben Clissold taking 5 for 18 while Mark Critchley and all-rounder Faisal Maxsood also grabbed two wickets apiece as the home side were bowled out for 99.
Clissold and Maxsood then completed good all-round performances by scoring 41 and 36 respectively as Stretton coasted to victory with a total of 105 for 3.
There were also plenty of new faces in Tim Mullin's second XI, but they could not prevent their Castrol opponents reaching 175 for 7 from 45 overs despite Toby Mullins recording figures of 3 for 45.
And Stretton could not match that total as they reached 120 for 8, with Tim Mullins hitting 40.
Stretton have three senior teams and several junior teams from the under 11s upwards.
