A LINK between Warrington and French amateur rugby league teams is up and running ahead of Perpignan's first assault on Super League next year.

Catalan XIII Perpignan junior players were hosted by a combined Burtonwood Bulldogs under 13s/14s team on Saturday and Rylands Sharks under 15s on Sunday, before being guests at Warrington Wolves' Super League clash with Hull FC at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Ex-Wire star Mike Nicholas promoted the tour and he said the plan is for teams from the two Warrington clubs to make the return trip deep into the south of France, hopefully to tie in with Wolves' Super League game over there.

The French boys opened their tour on Saturday with a powerful display against a Burtonwood side that stood-up extremely well at times to more mature opposition.

However, the visitors ran out convincing 38-0 winners as size and pace provided the difference in the final quarter.

Rylands' older players proved to be more of a match as they scored a comfortable victory against Catalan XIII at Gorsey Lane 24 hours later.
