CULCHETH Sports Club moved into second place in Warrington Soccer League Division Two after they defeated champions Beechwood 5-3.
That victory moved them above Matthiola, who lost 2-0 to Croft with goals from Gareth Chadwick and Neil Gittins being decisive, as Croft ended their disappointing campaign on a more positive note.
Burtonwood Albion's goalkeeper saved a penalty as they came from 2-0 down to lead Mill Brow 3-2, before a late equaliser meant that the sides shared the points.
In Division One, Greenalls lost 4-1 against Vicars, for whom Chris Burnett and Kris Partington both scored twice, although Greenalls Vets had a better day as they held second-placed Runcorn Athletic 1-1 in Division Three, with Slater on target.
Culcheth and Eagle both had disappointing results in Reserve Division One, as Culcheth lost 4-1 to Ford while Eagle crashed 6-3 against Rainhill Town.
In Reserve Division Three, Moore United claimed a good end-of-season victory by beating champions Vicars 2-1 despite McManus' strike.
