AN unusual positional switch came up trumps as Spa Brook beat Victoria Kings Park in a remarkable game in Warrington Sunday Soccer League Division Three.

Jason Heath had already scored for Spa Brook when he traded places with goalkeeper Chris Jupp, who went on to score a hat-trick in his new found striking role.

And the excitement was not over as Steve Towers weighed in with his first goal in 10 years to give Spa Brook a 5-3 win.

Pierpoints' goalkeeper was also on target as they beat Cheshire Hawthorne 3-2 in the Premier Division clash. He converted a penalty to level the scores at 2-2, with Lee Acomb and Scott Taylor also on the scoresheet for Pierpoints, while Stephen Jupp and David Tickle struck for Cheshire Hawthorne.

In Division Two, Brooklands pulled off the shock of the day as goals from Danny Ashton and Mike Buckley helped them to a 2-0 victory against title contenders Farmers Arms, who had won the Presidents Cup on the previous Sunday.

John Smith scored the only goal of the game as General Electronique beat Rams Head in Division Three, while Mike Lee, Dean Frampton, Lee Jones and Ste Donogue all found the net as Insall Smithys Rangers beat Woodies 4-0 in Division Four.

A hat-trick from Anthony Young helped Knights edge past Hackney FC 4-3, with Tony Norman also on target, while Mike Wiseman, Steve Taylor and Steve Hithmough all struck as Wolf Pack drew 3-3 with Sandymoor.

Carrs Hotel defeated fellow Premier Division side Halton Arms 2-1 to win the Denis Scholes Cup.
