HELPING the homeless is a priority at a Runcorn pub this year.
The Norton Arms wants to make sure young people without a place to stay get help, so it has made Halton Lodge YMCA its charity of the year.
"It is massively important to us," said YMCA fundraising manager Andy Guile.
"There are lots of 'fluffy' charities - the ones people usually think of when they want to donate money - so it is good that they thought of us.
"The pub held a 70's disco night and had raffles for Easter, raising £300 to £400."
The Norton Arms was taken over by joint managers - and partners - Claire Keating and Aidey Aspin in February, and they are planning more fundraising events for the coming year.
Members of staff have already signed up for a parachute jump.
"We are trying to make this a community pub in every way we can and we wanted to support a local charity," said Claire.
