A REVOLUTION is taking place in Winsford as all six residents' associations in the town are set to join forces, to create one residents federation.

Representatives from each residents' association voted unanimously to form the Winsford Residents' Federation at a meeting on Wednesday.

It it is hoped the organisation will provide one powerful voice that will be listened to by the authorities.

Mike Kennedy, chairman of the Grange residents Association, said: "These are new and exciting times for the Winsford associations and I am absolutely ecstatic that this has come about.

"There has been massive interest in tonight's meeting from other agencies.

"We have had the offer of a free venue to hold our meeting for the first three months at the Winsford centre with affordable printing on hand."

Groups from The Grange, Glebe Green, Greenfields Park, Greville, Over4All and Wharton Parish have all joined the federation and believe they may now have power in numbers.

Brian Roberts, Winsford neighbouring police inspector said: "The energy and enthusiasm for the Winsford Residents Federation is a very positive move and Mike and his colleagues have to be congratulated for spearheading the project."

John Roberts, from Vale Royal Borough Council, added: "The Safer Winsford group aimed to try and make it easier for us to engage with a number of residents' associations at one time.

"If they combine together it makes our job easier.

"We are happy to deal with people as individuals, communities or residents' associations."
