ANGRY voters have inundated Vale Royal Borough Council with complaints after failing to receive their postal ballot forms in time for the general election tomorrow, Thursday.

One of them, Winsford resident Mike Kennedy, says if he is denied his statutory right to vote, he will call for a revote in the Eddisbury constituency.

Mike, who was on holiday for four days over the bank holiday weekend, arrived home and looked through the post for his ballot paper but it was not there.

Mike said: "I was furious. If I don't get my statutory right to vote, then I don't see any reason whey they shouldn't call another election.

"It is not fair. I'm watching the letter box with great anticipation."

He added: "I don't know how many people are affected but when I rang Vale Royal Borough Council this morning, I was told there had been a number of residents complaining and that they hadn't been as polite as I was."

A spokesman for Vale Royal Borough Council said the council had issued two separate blocks of postal votes to the Post Office for this election, in compliance with current legislation.

It had operated to strict guidelines during the issue of postal votes and everyone who requested a postal vote had been issued with their packs in time to return them by May 5.

She said: "However, if the post office fails to deliver anyone's postal vote in the appropriate time frame then the council is willing to put in place special measures to ensure that no one is denied the opportunity to vote.

"To be reissued with a vote people should visit the council's offices at Wyvern House, Winsford, by 5pm today, Wednesday, with two forms of identity confirming their name and address or one form of photo identity."
