SPITE? Revenge? A relationship breakdown?

What drove somebody to put a well-cared for cat in a bin bag and dump it in the street?

These are the questions that RSCA Inspector Nadine Pengelli is asking.

"She is a lovely little cat," said Insp Pengelli.

"She has not been chipped, but she has got a nice red collar with a bell and she has recently been neutered.

"Someone has spent a lot of money on her.

"It is just very weird. Possibly it was done to spite somebody else."

The cat was tied up in a bin bag and left by the bus stop outside Halton Hospital.

A woman waiting for a bus heard it miaowing and took it home until the RSPCA could collect it.

The cat has provisionally been called 'Jo-Jo' and is about six months old.

It is a black coloured, domestic short-hair.

Insp Pengelli is now trying to find out where it was neutered in a bid to track down the owner.

"I have phoned all the vets in that area and they are checking their records," said Insp Pengello.

Anyone with information about the dumping should contact Insp Pengelli on 08705555999.
