EIGHT builders have won quality awards from Vale Royal Borough Council in recognition of construction work carried out in the district during the past year.

The firms were singled out at the annual Built in Quality Awards held by Cheshire's building control authorities at the Manchester Airport Moathouse Hotel in Wilmslow, and were nominated by Vale Royal Borough Council's building control officers.

The winners included Henry Boot Construction, from Derbyshire, for sheltered bungalows at Rudheath; Lowe Property Construction, from Warrington, for Sproston Chapel conversion; T8, from Weaverham, for a domestic extension at Hartford; Bletchbrook Builders, from Hazel Grove, for a loft conversion at Lower Peover; United Developments, from Middlewich, for a house extension; Cranage Construction, from Middlewich, for a barn conversion at Lach Dennis; Mid-Cheshire Construction, from Hartford, for work at Wharton Primary School and Ham Construction, from Bradford, for commercial work at Morrison's distribution centre in Rudheath.
