THE latest entry for the prestigious Vale Royal Business Awards is North Cheshire Speakers Club, which has entered the Training and Development Award.

Based in Oakleigh Rise, Winnington, staff at the organisation are hoping to attend the glitzy gala evening, which takes place at Portal Golf and Country Club, Tarporley, on Wednesday, June 15.

Neil Harvey, who set up the club, said it helped improve communication skills for people making presentations within the workplace, assisted their career prospects and enabled trainees to be more confident about training and development training.

He said the organisation benefits from the improved skills of its members and the individual benefits by achieving success, which had hitherto appeared unattainable.

Stammerers had gained confidence to enable them to communicate with people at all levels, both socially and in the workplace.

Neil said: "Our trainees have included people from all walks of life and with all levels of education and ability.

"All have benefited from our unique method of training.

"Many members obtained awards at club, area and district levels within the organisation.

"Many went on to achieve promotion within their own workplace resulting from the specific training received from ourselves."

He added: "The highly structured programme of training which we follow, leading to the presentation of a masterpiece speech at the end of the training course, has proved successful within the organisation.

"It is a model which others have sought to emulate."

The prestigious event has been organised by Guardian Series Newspapers together with partners Vale Royal Borough Council and Business Link Cheshire and Warrington.
