THUNDERSPRINT organiser Frank Melling is making the most of his last moments of freedom before the mayhem of the annual motorcycle event descends on Northwich this weekend.

Frank says he is relieved with the positive change in circumstances ahead of the race, after earlier problems gaining permission to use some of the town's roads threatened the proposed route.

He added: "After all the challenges we have faced with the track I am delighted with how things have turned out.

"Every part of the Thundersprint is completely sold out. There are no race or cavalcade places available and every inch of trade space has been sold too.

"In eight years, we have never been in such a positive position."

Essential maintenance work on Baron Quays car park has now been brought forward and another 90m of track has been added so racers will complete the track in front of the main spectator area.

Jim Redman, six times World Champion racer, said he cannot wait to return to Northwich. He added: "You have made me so welcome during my past two visits that I now look on the town as my Cheshire home - as well as the home of the Thundersprint.

"You can be sure that I will put on a very special show for you on May 8."

Frank added: "Given good weather, I expect this year's Thundersprint attendance to be enormous. The number of visits to our website has been tremendous and we are receiving inquiries from all over Britain."
