A CELEBRATION of a broad range of dance styles twirls into the Winnington Rec next weekend in the second Two Rivers Dance Festival.

Following the success of last year's festival, Northwich Folk Club, in association with DAN, Vale Royal Arts Council and Cheshire Dance, has organised the event to showcase a range of different dance styles and give people the chance to try them out for themselves. The festival takes place on Saturday, May 14 and people of all ages and abilities can chose four workshops from the 16 on offer, with each session lasting for one-and-a-half hours.

Workshops available include Flamenco; Cajun Jitterbug and two-step; Irish step; Appalachian, Fandango, percussive dance with song and Treepling; swing rock; belly dancing; slask or Silesian dance; integrated dance, long sword; salsa; Breton; street and break dancing. As well as the workshops there will be an evening ceilidh with Northwich Folk club regulars Madcap and caller Dave Ball to instruct those taking part as well as a number of dance performances.

Event promoter John Booth, from Northwich Folk Club, said: "This is a rare opportunity to enjoy a number of different dance styles all in the same location on the same day, with friendly, highly experienced tutors."

Food and drink will also be provided on the day. Tickets for the workshops, which take place between 11am and 6.30pm, cost £8.

The evening ceilidh and dance performances run from 7pm to 11.30pm and are priced at £6 with a hot pot dinner at £2.75.
