MIDDLEWICH Town have suffered a bad week in league and cup competition.

On Wednesday they were beaten 3-2 in the final of the Mid Cheshire FA Cup by arch rivals Barnton and on Saturday drew 2-2 at home to Greenalls PSO in Division One of the Mid Cheshire League.

A result compounded by yet another league victory for Barnton which saw them crowned league champions.

And Town manager Terry Murphy is less than impressed.

He said: "Barnton have been the best side throughout the season and so deserve the league.

"We started well but we lost four times to teams in the bottom six in the table and that's not good enough.

"We didn't score enough goals and we conceded too many."

He added: "We lost Rob Hopley, Stanton and Booth to Winsford, Duckworth to Newcastle and Adam Morris to a broken leg and it's difficult to replace all those players.

"But we have to improve and we'll sit down now and look at where we want to go and how we can get better for next year."
