IN AN enjoyable game at Stretton, on a good track and in improving weather, the home team's pace attack proved too strong for the visitors' batting line-up and Peover lost their opening away fixture by 49 runs.
Electing to field first, Peover paid the price for the several missed chances off opener Andy Delaney who anchored the innings with a knock of 60.
Skipper Ben Clissold hit a quick-fire 36, as Stretton finished on 159 for 9 from 45 overs.
For Peover Alex Ingarjiola took 5 for 29 and Mark Nightingale 4 for 27.
In Peover's reply, John Bodimeade cut and drove well for 30, but no batsman was able to build the innings needed for victory and they were dismissed for 110 in the 39th over.
Ben Clissold took 5 for 37 and Chris Nesbitt mopped up the tail to finish with 3 for 26.
On Saturday Over Peover are at home to Old Parkonians.
