ABSOLUTELY fantastic! That's how 38 stroke patients, their spouses and carers described a week's holiday in Devon.
And it's all thanks to the generosity of the local community, who have supported Halton's successful Let's Go Stroke club, the biggest in Britain.
"It was absolutely brilliant," said club chairman, Bob Bryant. "This is the only holiday a lot of our members get.
"We'd like to thank the people of Halton for all their support."
Holidaymakers paid for their own trip to Babbacombe in Devon but it was only made possible, thanks to transport in the club's own coach, funded through charity events.
"Everything went really well," said Bob. "We had lots of days out."
Asda donated a box of fruit, Widnes Vikings provided bottled water, Widnes market traders gave Coca Cola and Apex Taxis supplied crisps.
Another holiday is planned for August to accommodate more of the club's 200 members.
A race night and hot pot supper is being held at the club's monthly social in Halton Stadium on Wednesday, May 11, supported by local businesses.
