BARNTON FC are the new Coors/WPRC Mid Cheshire Division One champions.
The Townfield Lane side won 1-0 on Saturday and with nearest rivals Middlewich only managing a 2-2 draw, cannot be caught in the race for the league.
Town are now seven points behind Barnton and with just two games remaining cannot claw back the difference.
The title triumph for Barnton is their eighth in nine years, with Middlewich the only other side to win the title in that period.
And it is all the more remarkable this term as the Townfield Lane outfit were so far behind the leaders at the turn of the year due to a number of postponed fixtures.
What seemed like a certain title winning campaign for Middlewich at Christmas has become something of a nightmare in recent weeks
And to add insult to injury, Barnton also wrestled the Mid Cheshire FA Cup out of Middlewich's grasp with a 3-2 win in the final on Wednesday.
Barnton took a 2-0 lead in the first half and, despite a valiant effort from Middlewich, held on to record a famous victory.
