WINSFORD United's hopes of promotion to North West Counties Division One hang by a thread after a week of mixed results.
Dave Twite's team have performed miracles this season and finished their campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 win away at Norton United.
Despite this, their promotion to the next echelon is still in doubt after the only team capable of overtaking them, Silsden, won three games on the bounce.
The results, including a 2-0 win against champions Cammell Laird, have left Silsden just two points behind Winsford with one game left to play.
And that game is tonight, Wednesday, and is also against Cammell Laird.
Anything other than a Silsden win will see Winsford promoted, but a victory for Silsden will ruin all The Blues' hard work.
Whatever the outcome Twite is proud of his team's achievements this season which have been a massive improvement on recent years.
He said: "We've improved again on last season both as a team and as a club.
"Things are still moving forward and even if we don't go up this season we will strive to gain promotion next year.
"We just have to hope that Lairds play to their potential and put in a better performance against Silsden than they did on Saturday.
"Let's hope they get the right result."
