THE founder of the Relationships Centre graced the airwaves of Newlove FM this week.
Former police officer Alison McCausland was interviewed by Zoe Newlove and Vicky Duncalf on the breakfast show on Tuesday.
The station which was launched as a legacy to Garry Newlove will be on air for two weeks, ending on Sunday.
Alison said: “I think the radio station is a good idea and is an example of what we can achieve through energy, commitment and drive.”
She told listeners how the charity has evolved over the past 10 years.
She explained the aim of the Relationships Centre, which is to raise awareness and support for anyone wanting to develop a healthy relationship.
Alison discussed the Talk Don’t Walk project which helps young people address the underlying issues behind why they run away from home and holds sessions to help the individual and their family.
The charity is striving for its next progression of the Life Skills Academy. The centre, which workers hope will be ready by the end of the year, will offer a safe place providing help and support to deal with the reasons why they ran away.
A Big Sleep Out has been arranged for September 26 in Victoria Park. Teams of four to 10 people can enter the event which will involve a talks, an It’s a Knock Out competition and an insight into what is like to sleep rough.
Alison said: “If everybody does a little bit it means nobody has to do a lot.”
