A GRANDMOTHER of eight will be put through her paces to raise money and awareness for the prevention of breast cancer.

Norma Holden, aged 69, will be taking part in the Genesis Appeal’s Keep Fit and Pink 10km walk which will take place in Manchester’s city centre on June 14, along with her granddaughters Megan, aged 12 and Lily, aged 13.

Norma, from Appleton, said: “It’s great to be able to raise money for such a great cause whilst getting some exercise. “I’m just happy to spend some time with my grandchildren and take part in an event that will help so many people who have been affected by breast cancer. To say that I have been able to support such a well deserved charity and completed a 10km walk before my 70th birthday in July makes me very happy.”

Currently, one in 10 women in the UK will develop breast cancer and it is the most common cancer in women in the country, with 44,000 diagnoses a year.
