IT has been seven years in the making and now villagers can get a look at the new surroundings of a village community centre.

A special open afternoon will be held on Sunday at Oughtrington Community Centre on Sandy Lane.

Volunteers have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds to fund the refurbishment of a large section of the centre – known as the Westenders Project.

And on Sunday it will officially open, first with a ceremony for a list of invited guests and then with a public open day between 2pm and 4pm.

A plaque will be unveiled within the newly rennovated centre and there will be a performance from the Enid Wrigley dancers for the invited audience, which will include groups and individuals who have donated funds.

The public part of the day runs between 2pm and 4pm.

Anyone is welcome to come and look round the centre and there will also be children’s entertainment as well as refreshments and goodies on offer for people of all ages.

The day is also set to start the second wave of fundraising for the centre.
