A WARRINGTON businessman wanted in connection with the death of his millionairess girlfriend in Paris is due to appear in court within the next 48 hours for an extradition hearing.

An international manhunt for 39-year-old Ian Griffin was sparked after a cleaner at the prestigious Hotel Le Bristol found the battered body of his 36-year-old girlfriend, Polish tycoon Kinga Legg on Tuesday.

The hunt led police on a chase around Cheshire after finding his black Porshe 911 at his parent's home in Delph Lane on Thursday.

He was found hiding in woods in Chelford, near Macclesfield at around 3.30pm yesterday after living rough in a tent.

The former Culcheth High School pupil has now been arrested under section five of the Extradition Act 2003, a spokesman for Cheshire Police said.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "He is due to appear before City of Westminster Magistrates' Court, Horseferry Road, London, within the next 48 hours where extradition proceedings will commence.

"The primacy for this investigation lies solely with the French authorities."

Griffin, who owned a series of sun bed and gadget shops across the north west and was declared bankrupt three years ago, was initially arrested under a section of the law covering murder or manslaughter committed outside the UK.
