A WARRINGTON police officer has been killed in a road smash on the M62 near to The Rocket junction.
Simon Dean, aged 33, was off-duty and driving a VW Golf when his car was in a collision with a Mini Cooper as they both travelled toward Liverpool just before 4.30pm on Sunday, May 24.
PC Dean, who was an officer at Warrington Police station, died at the scene while the passenger and driver of the Mini were taken to hospital from where they have both since been released.
Chief Superintendent Gary Finchett said: “Simon was a professional, highly respected and hard working officer who will be sadly missed by his colleagues and friends.”
