A FORMER Culcheth High School pupil suspected of killing his millionairess girlfriend in a Paris hotel was attacked by her during a fight, according to reports.

Ian Griffin, aged 39, is the subject of an international manhunt after going on the run last Tuesday when his 36-year-old Polish girlfriend Kinga Legg was found dead at the £1,000-a-night Hotel Le Bristol in the French capital.

Ms Legg's battered and bruised body was found by a maid in the bathroom of their hotel suite after dying from internal bleeding as a result of her injuries, French police revealed.

Griffin, who grew up in Winwick and left Culcheth High in 1985, is believed to have fled the hotel, a haunt of celebrities and politicians, in his black Porsche 911, which was recovered by police at his parents’ home on Delph Lane on Thursday.

His ex-girlfriend Tracy Baker said he called her and told her about a violent row he had with Ms Legg, The Times reported.

She told the newspaper: “He sounded really upset and said she had attacked him with a stun-gun disguised as a lipstick, which she'd bought earlier in the day in Paris.

“He said he had cuts all over his arms and bruises all over his legs.

“That was the last time I spoke with him.

“His phones aren't working any more and I've been sending emails but I'm sure he's not reading them.”

She added: “He was the target of a lot of violence from her and he couldn't really cope with it. She was very possessive – she tried to control him.

“I think because I was still in the background she was jealous. He wasn't sure he could cope with her.

”I don't know what happened in Paris but I know he is not a violent or an aggressive man. I was with him for two-and-a-half years and he never showed any kind of violence or aggression towards me.”

She told the newspaper her ex-lover sent her a picture of his battered face after allegedly being attacked by Miss Legg last month.

French police have warned that Griffin is ‘dangerous and volatile’.
