A FACTORY unit caught fire after a welding accident this morning.
Workers were welding a container shut using foam to line it when the foam ignited.
Flames were so high that the roof of the building was scorched.
Foam creates lots of smoke, so the building was filled with fumes and has been severely smoke damaged, said Warrington Fire Station’s watch manager Jason Fletcher.
Four fire engines attended the blaze, at Tab Refractory on Wharf Street by Riverside Retail Park.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service’s community fire safety team will visit the business to complete a safety test.
Tab Refractory specialises in incinerator linings, aluminium furnace linings and fire testing.
