A MASSIVE fire caused road closures and totally destroyed a recording studio yesterday.
Longford Street was closed for more than three hours while firefighters battled against the blaze, at Attic Studios, which is above Budget Tyres.
By the time they were called, at 12.50pm, smoke was billowing from the roof of the property, and the fire had probably been burning for three or four hours, said watch manager Jason Fletcher, of Warrington Fire Station.
"The crew who went in in breathing apparatus faced really, really difficult conditions.
"It was full of smoke and really harsh. It was as hot as it gets in there," he said.
The fire, thought to be caused by an electrical fault, totally destroyed the studio which was empty at the time of the blaze.
Fire crews stayed at the scene for five-and-a-half hours, damping the property down.
Budget Tyres escaped damage.
