THE biggest day on Thelwall’s calendar will be a family affair for a sister and brother.

Because Emily Johnson will not only be rose queen for the Thelwall Rose Queen festival next month, but brother Ben will be a crown bearer.

And the family have extra reason to celebrate after the pair, along with sister Lucy and mum Jackie, all completed fundraising runs for Cancer research.

Emily, aged 13, attends Lymm High School and will be the star of the rose queen festival on June 20.

Mum Jackie said: “She is really excited.

“She was one of the attendants a few years ago and she has wanted to do it ever since.

“We are very proud of her and really looking forward to it.”

Meanwhile, Ben, aged seven, from Thelwall Infant School, will be crown bearer on the big day.

Both Emily and Ben, along with 10-year-old sister Lucy, who attends Thelwall Junior School, completed the Bupa mini and junior run on May 16 in Manchester.

And just a day later Jackie finished the 10km Great Manchester Run.

The family, of Woodlands Drive in Thelwall, were raising money for Cancer Research UK and are still collecting money from different charity events.
