WESTY A FATHER-OF-THREE is snapping at his youngest daughter’s heels after going back to college to learn a new skill.

Rob Andrews, of Bridgewater Avenue, is following his ambition to become a photographer by going to the same college with his 20-year-old daughter Naomi.

The 51-year-old was able to go to Mid-Cheshire College in Northwich thanks to an Adult Learning Grant (ALG) which helped him to leave behind his job in IT repair and sign up for a two-year photography diploma.

He said: “It was strange entering a classroom with students aged as young as 16, but I’m glad I’ve done it.

“Naomi was doing a national diploma in performing arts at Mid-Cheshire College, so she said ‘Come on Dad, if you apply to my college you can give me a lift in each day!’ “Now we are both studying at the same institution.”

Under the ALG scheme Rob gets £30 a week towards his costs, helping to pay for equipment and travel expenses.

“It was a big decision going back to college,” he said.

“There was a question mark over whether we could afford it, but both my wife and daughters were really supportive and said ‘go for it’.

“My colleagues also encouraged me to go back to college, even the man who worked in the butty bar I went to every morning said I had to do it.”

When he finishes his studies, Rob hopes to get work as a professional photographer, focusing on taking photographs for theatrical productions and films, along with music photography.
