A RIXTON man is ready for the biggest challenge of his life – not just completing the three peaks challenge, but cycling 450 miles between as well!

Matt Olley, aged 32, aims to complete the famous challenge and will also be cycling the 450 miles between ascents.

He is busy training to climb the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales with colleague Andy Brown and friend Spencer Lynn, beginning on June 19.

The trio are hoping to raise £15,000 for Cancer Research UK and have enlisted the help of Bovis Homes where Matt and Andy work.

The company has agreed to provide a support vehicle for the climbers throughout their trip.

Matt said: “Sadly, we all know a family member or friend who has had cancer.

“Taking part in the challenge is our way of helping to make a difference for people in the future who are affected by the disease.”

The men will climb more than 11,000ft and cycle 450 miles over three days.

Andy Brown, from Knutsford, said: “It will be hard work, but we’re putting in a lot of training and hope we can secure quite a bit of sponsorship from business and private individuals.”

The men are still looking for help with sports massage as after all that climbing and cycling they will need someone to offer their services to keep the trio going.
