THERE is a new face at the helm of Warrington south police.

Inspector Gary McIntyre has taken over the reins from Insp Sarah Edgar at the Stockton Heath police station.

Formerly an inspector with the targeted patrol team, which responds to 999 calls, he joined Cheshire Police in 1994 and brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Previously a detective in CID and part of the pro-active policing team in Macclesfield, Congleton and Crewe focusing on burglary, vehicle crime and drug related offences, he was seconded to the National Crime Squad targeting serious and organised crime and as a detective sergeant joined the force major investigation team working on murder enquiries and covert operations.

He said: “I will use all my skills and experience to continue and enhance the excellent work that has been carried out by Insp Sarah Edgar and the team.

“I am looking forward to getting to know the community and getting to grips with the issues that are affecting them and I want residents to feel they can talk to me and my team directly about any issues or concerns they might have.

“Only by working together can we discuss those issues and come up with the best ways of dealing with them.

“My priority is to have a visible, accessible and focused team who are committed to serving the community. I want residents to know who their officers are and to have confidence in the team.”

Insp McIntyre takes over from Insp Edgar who has moved to a specialized crime role at Cheshire Police’s headquarters in Winsford.
