A JAGUAR caught fire on the M6 at Lymm on Saturday causing two lane closures and large tailbacks.

The engine on the luxury car blew up as it was being driven on the inside lane and it was engulfed in a ball of flames within minutes.

The two people in the car managed to escape without injury.

Their car was completely destroyed by fire, and fuel that had spilled across the motorway was also alight.

Firefighters from Knutsford and Stockton Heath used foam to extinguish the fuel fire, but it was so hot it kept reigniting.

The fire was on the M6 northbound at Lymm at around 6pm on Saturday.
