A CAR parked on a driveway caught fire spreading flames to the garage and the side of the house.

The house, on Gairloch Close in Cinnamon Brow, escaped serious damage but the car and garage were almost totally destroyed by fire, which happened on Tuesday afternoon.

The car burst into flames following an electrical fault.

It had just been driven and had not been parked up for long when it went up in flames.

The owner of the house was in the back garden and saw smoke billowing over his garage roof.

He called the fire brigade who arrived within minutes to find the fire well developed.

Windows in the man’s house had cracked and melted from the heat.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought the fire.
