A CANNABIS factory has been unearthed by police in Latchford.

Officers made the discovery at a house on Thelwall Lane on Thursday afternoon, finding more than 60 mature cannabis plants in an upstairs room.

The plants and equipment used to grow them were seized and taken away for forensic examinations.

A 41-year-old man, from Warrington, was arrested at the scene and received a caution for the cultivation of the class B drug.

PC Richard Hughes, of Warrington South Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “We executed the warrant as a result of intelligence passed on to us by a member of the public.

“This sort of information is vital and we will continue to work closely with the community to gather and act upon any further intelligence in relation to drugs in the area.”

The warrant was part of an ongoing crackdown on drugs and is one of a number of warrants executed in Warrington south during the past few months.

PC Hughes added: “We hope that it serves as a warning to others that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated and that we will not hesitate to take positive action wherever and whenever necessary.

“We hope this also reassures the community that we are listening to what they are saying.

“We urge anyone with any information about drug use and supply to contact us immediately.”
