The Mayor of Warrington, Clr Graham Welborn is among the group of council officers involved in a coach crash in Nachod, Czech Republic yesterday morning.
Eleven members of the council were involved in the collision with a lorry on a motorway in Warrington's twinned town of Nachod.
The party also included Mayoress of Warrington, Clr Elaine Welborn, Deputy council leader Clr Keith Bland, Clr Liz Smith, Clr Roy Smith and Clr Celia Jordan as well as the Mayors officer and other council officers.
The group were travelling from the airport to their accommodation when the incident happened and several sustained minor injuries needing hospital treatment.
A council spokesman said that there were no immediate plans to bring anyone back to the country following the incident.
They added: “The council is providing support to those involved in the accident and their families."
The visit was part of the council's international partnerships scheme that helps to build links between the two towns.
