AN animal charity has been working to reduce the number of unwanted dogs and cats across the town by holding neutering events.

Warrington Animal Welfare held the microchipping and neutering day at the Potty on Pets Grooming Parlour on Old Liverpool Road, Penketh.

Volunteers for the charity microchipped 22 cats and dogs and pet owners booked in more than 75 cats and dogs for neutering.

Lorraine Mawdsley, one of the volunteers, said: “This goes to show that the pet owners of Warrington are responsible pet owners and this in turn greatly helps the rescue centres by reducing the number of stray and unwanted animals which find themselves homeless each year.

“A special thank to Susan and the girls from Potty on Pets who helped us to organise and run this event.”

Anyone on benefits who would like to have their dog or cat neutered can call 07837 344418 to book their pet an appointment.

Animal lovers wanting to offer a foster or permanent home to a rescued animal, become a volunteer or to give a donation can call Warrington Animal Welfare on the same number as above.
