A WOULD-be illegal immigrant has been captured by the UK Border Agency en-route to Warrington.

The man was found within a lorry load of plastic car bumpers travelling from Italy on April 20 at 10.06am after officers using heart beat detection equipment identified people hiding in the HGV.

The French registered lorry with a Polish driver was selected for examination at Coquelles in France, by UK Border Agency officers who found an Eritrean man hiding in a crate underneath the plastic car bumpers.

The car parts were en route from Italy to a depot in Warrington.

The driver and haulier could now be liable for a fine.

The would-be illegal immigrant was fingerprinted, photographed, refused entry to the UK and then handed over to the French police before the lorry was allowed to continue its journey to the UK.
