APPLETON Boys under 14s football team received five-star treatment after they were chauffeured to their match on the official England coach.

Manager, Neil Hutchinson, won a competition at his Eddie Stobart workplace in Appleton that saw his team transported to Sunday’s game against Winstanley, in Wigan, on the coach.

The prize from Scania, for naming the world XI football team judged to be the best of the best, also included a new kit for the team, training jackets, kit bags and water bottles.

The star-studded treatment paid off for the team who went on to win the game by a convincing 7-3 scoreline.

And the seven goals meant that £700 was donated to the charity, The National Football Museum.

Mr Hutchinson, of Appleton, had help from his 14-year-old son and team mates in picking the winning team.

He said: “The boys were very excited and had been looking forward to it for weeks.

“It was a fabulous day, it was fantastic and really luxurious. It had the finishing touches and leather reclining seats.

“The bus driver who drives the players was saying who sits where. All of the Liverpool lads wanted to sit where Steven Gerrard sits and Man Utd where David Beckham sits.”

The team completes their season with an appearance against Matthiola in the Warrington Junior Soccer League Auxiliary Cup Final at Victoria Park Arena on May 9.
