STUDENTS appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court to be put through their paces in a mock trial.
Priestley College won the court’s mock trial competition for the second year after competing against other schools in the borough.
Those taking part at the event last month were given positions in the courtroom, in a case centred around an individual and the alleged possession of drugs.
Philip Thomas, a student at the Loushers Lane college, was crowned top performer for his role of the lawyer.
Christian Oliver, law tutor, said, “To win the trophy last year was a big achievement but to retain it was even more satisfying.”
“A number of the team have expressed a keen interest in pursuing careers in law and events like this allow them to get an early taste of the courtroom atmosphere.”
