A WARRINGTON Borough Council office was broken into on Monday night and thieves escaped with the safe filled with cash.
The break-in at Palmyra House on Palmyra Square was reported to police at 12.40pm on Tuesday.
A police spokesman said that enquiries into the burglary are ongoing.
Peter Moffatt, head of property and facilities at the council said: “I can confirm that there was a break in last night at Palmyra House.
“The police are now investigating this matter.”
