SCHOOLCHILDREN went back in time to find out about holidays in the Victorian era.

The St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School pupils had been learning about seaside holidays in the past during history and had a visit from staff at Warrington Museum to bring their lessons to life.

The year two class played games, explored artefects from the time and had a question and answer session.

They also had a visit from Mrs McQuillan, the grandmother of one of their classmates, who talked to them about her memories of holidays at their school, on Quebec Road in Orford.

“The children thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and it provided an ideal opportunity for children to consolidate all of their learning from this topic,” said teacher Colleen Everett.

“After comparing holidays in the past to holidays they experience today they have gained a greater appreciation of how lucky they are,” she said.
